Microneedling (also known as “microchanneling”) is a minimally invasive treatment utilized to rejuvenate the skin. A device with fine needles creates tiny punctures in the top layer of the skin, which triggers the body to create new collagen and elastin. A serum is immediately applied to the skin upon creation of the “channels” – allowing for maximal absorption and efficacy. Microneedling is a treatment from which ANYONE can benefit!
Q: How will my skin look immediately after the treatment?
A: There is a very wide range of normal reactions. Anything from little to no reaction, to a deep red flush, to pinpoint bleeding is normal. As this is a non-ablative procedure, more extreme reactions do not necessarily correspond to more extreme results. Several days later, the skin looks visibly refreshed and rejuvenated.
Q: Can Microneedling be done for darker skin types?
A: Microneedling is safe for all skin types.
Q: Does it hurt?
A: We apply numbing cream to the skin prior to the treatment to ensure very little to no discomfort is felt by the patient during the treatment.
Q: How many treatments do I need?
A: The number of treatments range greatly depending on what we are treating. For light anti-aging, 1-3 treatments may be sufficient. For deeper wrinkles and acne scarring, more treatments may be required to achieve desired results. There is no limit to number of treatments that one can receive as long as adequate time passes in between each treatment.
Q: How often can I get Microneedling done?
A: 3-4 weeks in between treatments.
Q: How long is the down time?
A: Any redness and/or pinpoint scabbing will resolve by 1-3 days. Healing varies from person to person. Lotions, makup and sunscreen can be applied after a minimum of 2 hours after treatment.
